IPRCC Held the Third CELAC-China Forum on Poverty Reduction and Development Promotion Successfully

On 26 July 2023, the Third CELAC-China Forum on Poverty Reduction and Development Promotion which was hosted by the National Rural Revitalization Administration of China and organised by the International Poverty Reduction Center in China (IPRCC), was successfully held by videoconference. With the theme of "Deepen Exchanges on Poverty Reduction and Enhance Resilience in Development", the Forum aimed to share the experiences of China and Latin American and Caribbean countries on how to reduce the impacts of disasters on poverty and how to resist the threat of returning to poverty in the face of the persistent impacts of epidemics in recent years. More than 60 delegates from China, Brazil, Argentina, St. Vincent and the Grenadines and other 20 LAC member countries, including representatives of relevant departments, business representatives, experts and scholars, as well as media representatives attended the meeting. Ms. Li Yue, Supervision Commissioner of the National Rural Revitalization Administration of China, Mr. Qu Yuhui, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Latin American and Caribbean Affairs, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, and Mr. James George, Deputy Resident Representative in the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in China, attended the opening ceremony of the forum and delivered speeches. Dr. Liu Junwen, Director General of the International Poverty Reduction Center in China (IPRCC), delivered a closing summary speech. Ms. Li Xin, Deputy Director General of IPRCC, moderated the opening ceremony, closing ceremony and related sessions.

Participants agreed that exchanges and sharing of experiences are crucial for consolidating the results of poverty reduction and sustaining the cause of global poverty reduction in the aftermath of the epidemic, China and Latin American and Caribbean countries have explored and formed valuable experience and practices with rich characteristics and obvious results, and as long as we insist on building consensus and cooperating hand in hand, we can definitely benefit more people in China and Latin America. 

The CELAC-China Forum on Poverty Reduction and Development Promotion is a platform established by China for the exchange and sharing of experiences in poverty reduction and development for Latin American and the Caribbean states. China and the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean can make use of this platform to learn from each other and enhance the effectiveness of poverty reduction.
